THE STORY SO FAR
For two decades, DE PROFUNDIS have never stopped honing their inimitable brand of death metal. Over 6 full length albums and 2 EPs, their music has developed into ever more intricate forms, reaching out in a multitude of diverse directions, leaving limiting genre definitions and conventions shattered in their wake.
Since their brooding debut “Beyond Redemption”, the band evolved and experimented unceasingly, culminating in 2018's “The Blinding Light of Faith”. Here, the band achieved the sound that would come to define them, razor-sharp extreme metal inspired - not just musically but also in ethos - by bands such as Death, Atheist, and Coroner; pioneers from an era where the borders of subgenre were more fluid, and exploration and experimentation were still yet to define the arts of extremity.
De Profundis is, has been and always will be a live band first and foremost. To date, the band has played in 27 countries, from their native UK all the way to India, where they would open for none other than the legendary Iron Maiden in 2009. Since then, the band has toured and shared stages with Deicide, Immolation, Terrorizer, Malevolent Creation, Rotting Christ, Belphegor, Hour of Penance, Sigh, I Am Morbid and Necrophagia to name just a few.
2025 marks a new chapter for De Profundis. With the new arrivals of Stefano Bassi on vocals and Simon McAuliffe on bass. "The Gospel of Rot" EP has been released on October 1st 2025 and the band also celebrated their 20th years anniversary at the end of the year with a special show in London (229) and with a UK tour in February 2026.
More shows have been booked for UK and EU at the end of 2026 (UK, France, Belgium) and the band will also reach Ireland in February 2027.
Last but not least, De Profundis is actively recording their 7th full abum, which will be released in the incoming months.
